Eugene Stickland

Eugene Stickland was born in Regina, where he spent his early years thinking he would become a musician. But through a series of fantastic events he ended up doing a degree in English at the University of Regina before heading to York University in Toronto where he completed an MFA in playwriting. Thus began a playwriting career that has spanned six decades. Eugene has also written poetry, was a columnist for the Calgary Herald for five years, has written an award-winning novel, The Piano Teacher, and has taught in many situations and locations across Canada and beyond. Eugene is currently working on a new novel about pandemic times and writing a play based on the life of Canadian-born artist Agnes Martin. He lives alone in downtown Calgary.

Courage and Beyond
